There goes the neighborhood!

Have you ever walked into a crowded room and felt like everyone in there was judging you? Not because they’re mean or anything, but just because of what “mainstream” society had stamped in their minds?

Last night we had a meet-and-greet with the new home owners on our street. They had good food and lots of great information, but we got this weird vibe from our soon-to-be neighbors. Everyone was giving us the sideways, “Out the corner of your eye, don’t let them see you look" kind of glances. MyHoney seems to think that it’s because of his arms. Tattoos must still be really taboo, which is weird because LOTS of people have them. It made me flash back to our wedding when my future-sister-in-law likened us to Sandra Bullock and Jesse James. Maybe it was just weird for people to see us together? Who knows?

Other than the sidelong glances, all went well at the meeting. We got to talk to the construction managers for our community and asked them a whole bunch of questions. We also did a little scrutinizing of our own. There aren’t too many young couples on our street, but it’s not like we’re very social anyway. I was dreaming of the neighborhood bliss enjoyed by our friends Ryan and Jaime on their block, but it doesn’t seem plausible for us at this point. I hope I’m proven wrong on that count.

11 days till we move out of our sardine can!!
